Captain Anthony (Tony) A. Fernandes is a seasoned leader and strategic visionary, whose remarkable journey in the United States Air Force and Space Force spans over two decades, characterized by a relentless pursuit of excellence and a commitment to serving the nation.
Enlisting in the Air Force in May 2004 as an operations intelligence analyst, Tony quickly distinguished himself through his exceptional analytical skills and dedication to duty. Following technical training in 2005, he embarked on a remarkable career trajectory, providing critical analysis for a myriad of missions across diverse regions, including Central Command, Pacific Command, Africa Command, and Southern Command. His expertise extended to supporting flying operations for Air Mobility Command and Special Operations Command, where he played a pivotal role in ensuring mission success across ground, air, and space operations.
A true joint warfighter, Tony lent his expertise to the Army, Navy, Marines, and coalition partners, solidifying his reputation as a trusted advisor and collaborator. His contributions to the Intelligence Officer Course from 2015 to 2017 exemplify his dedication to nurturing over 1,000 of the next generation of leaders in Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance.
In 2017, Tony received his commission upon graduation from Officer Training School, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his illustrious career. His tenure at the 612th Air Operations Center saw him assuming critical leadership roles to include the senior intelligence duty officer as well as the deputy chief of the analysis, correlation, and fusion branch within the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance section of the Air Operations Center, where he played a key role in shaping intelligence operations and strategy.
Transitioning to the United States Space Force, Captain Fernandes's expertise continued to shine. His role as the Officer in Charge for Intelligence Training at the 755th Operations Support Squadron (OSS) at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base underscored his commitment to excellence in electromagnetic warfare.
At Peterson Space Force Base, Captain Fernandes's leadership acumen was further demonstrated as Flight Commander for the 71st Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Squadron Detachment 3, supporting Delta 3’s Space Electronic Warfare mission. He subsequently served as the Protocol Operations Officer for the SpOC Commander, cementing his reputation as a dynamic leader adept at navigating complex operational environments. Tony then was selected to service as the Deputy Chief for the Combat Development Team (CDT) within the Deputy Commanding General - Transformation Innovation Team for Space Operations Command of the United States Space Force, Captain Fernandes continues to push the boundaries of innovation and excellence in space operations.
Tony's unwavering dedication to duty has seen him support six major deployments, including critical missions across the globe. From the deserts of the United Arab Emirates to the diplomatic corridors of Cambodia all the way to the borders of the Russian invasion into Ukraine, his contributions have been instrumental in advancing national security objectives and safeguarding American interests. Tony's two decades of experience has afforded him the opportunity to study regional issues of almost every continent and region of the world aiding him in his ability to advise and assist all levels of organizations and leaders while empowering those around him to strive for excellence.

Tony Fernandes's fitness journey began at the tender age of 7 in Hawaii, where he immersed himself in the discipline of Kempo Karate. From those early years, he discovered a passion for martial arts that would shape his life's trajectory. By the age of 14, Tony had relocated to Colorado and delved into the world of Taekwondo, where he quickly distinguished himself as a dedicated student and formidable competitor.
Driven by his love for Taekwondo, Tony ascended through the ranks to achieving his 3rd degree black belt by the age of 19, eventually becoming the head instructor and assuming the role of leading his Taekwondo school. His dedication and skill propelled him onto the national and world stage, where he achieved remarkable success, clinching the title of national champion in 2000 and earning accolades as a respected competitor as well as being recognized and instructor of the year in the American Taekwondo Association.
Tony's journey took a new turn when he joined the Air Force, where he discovered a newfound passion for weightlifting and fitness. Determined to share his knowledge and help others on their fitness journeys, he embarked on a path of study and certification in exercise science, obtaining credentials as a certified group fitness instructor from AFAA and a certified personal trainer from ACE.
Since 2010, Tony has been actively involved in teaching high-intensity interval training (HIIT) classes, leveraging his expertise to inspire and motivate others to achieve their fitness goals. His commitment to excellence led him to become one of only 23 master trainers nationwide for R.I.P.P.E.D., a testament to his proficiency and dedication in the fitness industry.
As the lead physical training and fitness manager for the Air Force Intelligence Officer Course, Tony played a vital role in shaping the fitness standards and capabilities of future officers. His leadership and expertise ensure that aspiring intelligence officers are not only mentally sharp but also physically fit to meet the demands of their roles.
In addition to his roles as a fitness instructor and trainer, Tony has also made his mark in physique competitions, consistently placing in the top three and showcasing his dedication to personal excellence.
Today, Tony continues to serve as a beacon of inspiration in the fitness community, sharing his passion, knowledge, and expertise to empower others to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. Whether through teaching, training, or competing, Tony remains steadfast in his commitment to helping individuals unlock their full potential and achieve their fitness aspirations.
